Pagan Memes and Quotes

As in many things, Steven Posch is right about Pagans not quoting Pagans. I've spent a couple of rainy weekend hours Googling variations of "Pagan quotes", looking at "Pagan quotes" on Pinterest, and checking out the Facebook feeds of a variety of Pagan groups. I found quotes from Eastern philosophies, from First Nations people, from Christian poets, from scientists and agnostics and atheists. Many of the quotes are good and many are applicable to Pagans, but few of them are by Pagans. The quotes that were by Pagans were often of the problematic "we're not satanists" types.

So, a challenge to my creative friends: let's create and share memes using quotes from actual Pagan authors, philosophers, poets, musicians, thinkers, and artists. Photos you've taken yourself or Creative Commons pictures only, please, and please attribute all the quotes right on the picture - we don't want the source lost as it gets shared. Here are my first attempts:

Over trees reflected on a lake, text: "I hold these things to be sacred and holy: all life, the earth, nature, our selves, our bodies, our relationships." - John Halstead, The Allergic Pagan
Quote by John Halstead, The Allergic Pagan blog (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/allergicpagan/2015/10/29/i-hold-these-things-to-be-sacred-a-reply-to-sarenth-odinsson/). Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over a pair of legs that are muddy to the knee, text: "Immanent love surrounds us and is as close as the dirt at our feet."
Quote by Erick DuPree, Agora blog (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/agora/2014/09/alone-in-her-presence-the-goddess-is-in-the-dirt/). Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over a black and white image of a hand cupping a lit tea light, text: "Hold your beliefs lightly, but while you hold them, treat them as though they were true..."
Quote by John Beckett, Under the Ancient Oaks blog (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/johnbeckett/2014/12/hold-loosely-but-practice-deeply.html). Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over a bee on a sunflower, text: "We send a prayer to the Goddess of the bees, that she may know that we remember and honour her. We pour libations, that she may be blessed as her creatures have blessed us. We offer gifts in gratitude of all her children's gifts to us. Blessed bee!"
Quote by Mud and Magic (https://www.mudandmagic.com/small-group-sabbat-rituals/lammas-honouring-the-sacred-bee/). Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over a woman in a pool of water at the base of a waterfall, text: "Magic is not always serious or solemn. It is a joyous celebration and merging with the life-force."
Quote by Scott Cunningham. Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over a path through a bright forest, text: "Life is too short to follow a path simply because others have trodden it..."
Quote by Joanna van der Hoeven, Moon Books blog (http://moon-books.net/blogs/moonbooks/authenticity-v-validity/). Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over feathery plants silhouetted in front of a cloudy sky, text: "Sometimes my gods are like mountains, sometimes they are like mist."
Quote by Alison Leigh Lilly, Holy Wild blog (http://alisonleighlilly.com/blog/2014/gods-like-mountains-gods-like-mist/). Photo by Mud and Magic.
Over a carved wood statue, text: "When we let go of believing we are superior, we open ourselves to the experience of living in the community of Nature." - Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm
Quote by Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm from The Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. Photo by Mud and Magic.
